The proceedings include 12 papers and 22 abstracts of presentations on the use of new technology being used in the field of fish and wildlife research and management. Specific sessions dealt with computer modeling and simulation, use of DNA, and isotopes, use of GIS and GPS, habitat improvement techniques, use of telemetry and acoustics, and biomonitoring.

The meeting theme was ecological reclamation or restoration of land and waters in Canada previously disturbed by human activities. Specific papers included restoration of lands disturbed by mining, road building, urban activities, irrigation, and river alteration. The proceedings also includes a thematic paper by the editor which explains the fit of this series of paper a into the overall conference theme.
